The original tapestries are a set of six wall hangings woven in the 15th Century depicting the Unicorn hunt. This panel shows the Lady capturing the Unicorn.
Note fence with the`mille fleur' (thousand flowers) style, i.e. covered with tiny flowers, among which can be seen are pansies, ragged robin, violets, harebells and other wild flowers.
Gold, silk and fine wools were used in the weaving of the original which was woven in France for the family La Rochefoucauld which adorned their Chateau of Verteuil. The series was sold in 1923 to Mr J.D.Rockefeller and can now be seen in the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
